Do I need Spotify Premium to use Trimify?
No! Trimify works with both free and premium Spotify
However, when using Trimify with free Spotify, keep in mind that if you are out of skips then Trimify won't be able to skip either.
-
Is Trimify free?
You can save up to 3 trims for free and edit or replace them at any time.
Get Trimify Premium to unlock unlimited trims! You can upgrade at any time through the app.
-
Can I skip Spotify ads with Trimify?
No. Trimify only has as much control over Spotify as a normal user would, so it cannot skip ads for you.
-
What music providers do you support?
Trimify is designed to only work with Spotify. We do not currently have any plans to support other providers, since none provide the same tools Spotify does that make Trimify possible. We'll be on the lookout in case that changes in the future.
-
Are you planning to release an iOS version?
Not at the moment. But if enough people want it, it will happen!
You can enter your email below and we will let you know when/if it's available.
Troubleshooting
-
Trimify is: not trimming songs on my device / not displaying the right song / not behaving correctly in edit-mode. What do I do?
Make sure the Spotify app on the device Trimify is installed on is running and correctly displaying playback information. Trimify can only work properly if Spotify itself is working properly. If you are playing on a Spotify Connect / Cast device, also make sure both the device Trimify is installed on, and the connect/cast device, are connected to the internet. If Spotify appears to be stuck, try closing and reopening it or force-stopping it through:
Settings → Apps & notifications → Spotify → Force stopIn some cases it may also help to force-stop Trimify with the same method
If Spotify appears to be working correctly, and you are still experiencing the problem on Trimify, see the Contact section to find out how to report it to us.
-
Why are intro skips not working on my Spotify Connect / Cast device?
Some Spotify Connect devices, especially Google cast devices, have trouble processing intro skips. See the Spotify Connect / Cast section to learn more about adjusting Trimify to work with different devices.
-
When I skip to the beginning of a song with a skipped intro, why doesn't it skip the intro again?
Intros are only skipped once when the song starts for the first time. To skip the intro again, switch to a different song and then switch back.
This behavior is intentional and helps make Trimify overall more reliable and consistent.
-
Why is "Live from Spotify" turned off and how do I turn it back on?
When you select a song you've previously trimmed from the list of trims, "Live from Spotify" will turn off, since Trimify is no longer displaying what's playing on Spotify. You can turn it back on by going "back" on your Android device, or by pressing it.
Trimming Songs
-
How do I select a song to trim?
Play the song you want to trim on Spotify, and then open Trimify. You should now see that song displayed.
When the blinking light labelled "Live From Spotify" is on, the song you see in Trimify is synced to what is currently playing on Spotify.
-
I've selected a song. Now how do I trim it?
Whenever the song displayed on Trimify changes, the trimming controls are disabled to prevent accidental edits.
To enable the controls, push the "EDIT WITH SPOTIFY" button. The song will play on Spotify on your device if it wasn't already, and some playback controls will appear. You can use these controls to find the perfect spot(s) to start and/or end the song.
When you're all done, you don't need to do anything. Your trim has been saved and will take effect the next time that song plays. You can safely close/exit Trimify.
-
How do the editing controls work?
Use the first slider to adjust the start and end time of the song. The arrows above this slider let your fine-tune your selection.
The controls below this slider all control playback of the song on Spotify. This is purely for convenience, so you can hear where you're trimming.
While editing, Trimify will also pause the song when it reaches your selected end-time. Combining this feature with the 5-second-rewind-button is very useful for picking the right end-time.
-
What does the "Skip" checkbox do?
When enabled, this will automatically skip the whole song whenever it plays.
You can use it, for example, to have Trimify automatically skip the songs of an album you always used to skip yourself
-
How do I test if my trim works?
After you've finished editing, use Spotify to switch to a different song and then switch back. You should now notice your trim taking effect.
-
How do I delete trims?
From the top bar, navigate to the list of your trims. Press and hold on a trim to activate selection mode, select any trims you want to delete, and then press the trash icon.
Spotify Connect / Cast
-
Does Trimify support Spotify Connect / Cast?
Yes. However, Using Trimify with Spotify Connect won't be as reliable or responsive as using it on the device Trimify is installed on.
We highly encourage reading this section to understand what to expect when using Trimify with Spotify Connect, and how to get the most out of it
-
What do I need to do to trim songs on connect/cast devices?
Make sure Trimify is running and connected to the internet. Trimify is running if the Trimmer notification is visible in your notification tray.
Check the Trimify Trimmer notification and make sure it says "Connected"
If the notification says it's waiting for Spotify to become active, you may need to open/restart the Spotify app before using your connect/cast device, but usually this is not necessary (this behavior may vary across different combinations of devices and device settings).
-
How do I configure Trimify to skip intros on my connect/cast device?
Open Trimify's settings and select "Trimmer delay"
Increase the delay and then test if intro-skips work on your connect/cast device
The applied delay is universal. It will occur no matter what device you are listening on. We're working on a way to dynamically apply the delay, but it's blocked for the time being on Spotify's end.
When the delay is set to "Compatible" (2.5 seconds or higher), you may notice the song quickly switching between pausing and playing after an intro-skip. This is necessary for compatibility with problematic devices like Android TV.
